Milkmine - Braille

1994; 13 tracks

I love this album so much - even as the only release by the quite obscure Cincinnati-based noise rock band
Milkmine, Braille could easily be one of the greatest noise rock gems of the 90s. From what I've read, they consist of two bassists and one drummer. There is so much noisy and sludgy fuzziness to enjoy here, so, enjoy. Highlights, aka songs that either made me break down and cry or want to scream: "Snapshot" and "An Evening Gown."

Jesu - Heart Ache EP

2004; 2 tracks

This is Justin Broadrick's first album under the name
Jesu, a drone/sludge project where he does all of the instruments himself.

Heart Ache's two 20 minute tracks contain moments of pure, crushing glory, and some of the most beautiful transitions and melodies one will ever hear. That is all I feel I should say, really, because this is undoubtedly Jesu's best release.

Corrupted - El Mundo Frio

2005; 1 track (1:11:39)

Corrupted is a doom/sludge metal band from Japan. They are also pioneers of that music genre and sing in English, Japanese, and Spanish.

El Mundo Frio (meaning The Cold World) is a 71 minute-long track that includes elements of sludge, doom metal, drone doom metal while also featuring dark ambient sections. It takes a long time to actually start to have some life in it, and when the real song actually starts the riffs repeat over and over and over again. I find this deeply rewarding because the riffs and atmosphere that is created is deeply beautiful. I'm wondering what others would think of it.

Here is a well written summary/review of what you should expect: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/10928/Corrupted-El-Mundo-Frio/
